Private Guide in Siena for 3 hours

Private Guide in Siena for 3 hours

Is there anything better than having your private guide for 3 hours? Our walking tour of Siena is a must!
Our professional and fun guide will meet you in Piazza Gramsci and start the tour of this fantastic city. Siena, Florence's smaller but great rival, boasts some of Italy's most beautiful Gothic buildings and surrounded by gorgeous wine country. It is more medieval in flavour than Florence, with cobbled streets and a maze of alleyways and tiny squares that join each other in the splendid Piazza del Campo. It is here that the world-famous Palio, Tuscany's most celebrated festival, is held on 2 July and 16 August every year. From this shell-shaped 12th century square you will follow the narrow winding streets to the Duomo, a cathedral in full Gothic style, which would have been the biggest church in Christendom, had the Great Plague not interrupted construction in 1348.

At lunch time, our guide will walk you to a traditional restaurant in the city centre (to be paid locally), where you will be able to taste some of the unique specialties this region has to offer. Buon Appetito!

A walking tour is not only about the guide, in fact the atmosphere plays a great role in making something great even more special. That is why at Enjoying Italy we carefully select our guides.
Remember! The difficulty does not lie in providing a guided tour, but to make it a lifetime experience. That is what we specialise in.

More about Siena

Siena is the second most interesting town in Tuscany after Florence. It preserves its medieval character to a remarkable degree, and has been largely unspoilt by new buildings. Its beautiful Gothic buildings include the Cathedral and Palazzo Pubblico, as well as numerous churches. The delightful Sienese school of painting produced, in the first half of the 14th Century, masterpieces by Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini, and Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, all of whose work is well represented in the Pinacoteca, Palazzo Pubblico and Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. The Campo is one of the most remarkable squares in Italy. The seventeen Contrade or wards into which the town is divided still manage to play an active part in the life of the city, culminating in the famous Palio horserace which has survived as perhaps the most spectacular annual festival in Italy, in which the whole city participates.
